Description

The development of a country depends on the affordable availability of resources to generate energy. As Bangladesh does not seemingly possess any oil underground and as the gas reserves are drying up, experts are giving more emphasis on extracting coal on a large basis to substitute the use of oil and gas in electricity generation facilities. At some non-industrial levels, use of biogas, biodiesel, and solar energy is seen. However, for a faster economic growth, large-scale coal extraction has become necessary. Though environmental degradation may occur to some point, the benefits will overweigh the drawbacks and the country will rise to a position at which energy can be imported (even if costly) and more concentration can be put on further industrialization.
