Description
The National Budget for FY2025–26, themed “Building an Equitable and Sustainable Economic System,” marks a pivotal shift from expansionary growth to targeted, people-centric development. With a total outlay of BDT 7.9 trillion— slightly reduced from the previous year—the budget emphasizes inflation control, fiscal discipline, and institutional reform. Key priorities include education, healthcare, climate resilience, and governance improvement. Revenue targets are set at BDT 5.64 trillion, supported by tax reforms and digitalization, while the deficit of 3.6% of GDP is planned to be financed through a balanced mix of domestic and foreign sources. The Annual Development Program (ADP), amounting to BDT 2.3 trillion, prioritizes human development and infrastructure rationalization. Despite macroeconomic challenges, the budget reflects cautious optimism and strategic reorientation to foster inclusive, sustainable growth.
