Bangladesh is the 106 most competitive nation in the world out of 138 countries ranked in the 2016-2017 edition of the Global Competitiveness Report published by the World Economic Forum. Overall score has improved by 1.06% (from 3.76 to 3.80). Considerable progress has been observed in Institutions and Infrastructure pillars. Ranking in terms of Infrastructure moved to 114th from 123rd (8.2% value increased: from 2.56 to 2.77). Ranking in terms of Institutions moved to 125th from 132nd (7.14% value increased: from 2.94 to 3.15). Innovation and sophistication made some positive changes in this year. Perception on electricity supply has improved significantly. Visible progress is observed in case of ensuring better services for citizens by using ICT, developing ICT enabled new business models, and using ICT for business transactions. Overall environment of domestic competition appears to be in moderately good condition.
